The ETF Universe

From boring bonds to AI robots

Learn the major ETF families and why the wrapper tells you little about the risk inside.

One wrapper, many exposures

Saying ‘I invest in ETFs’ is like saying ‘I watch streaming’. It does not tell us whether you chose a sitcom, thriller or documentary. Equity ETFs can cover regions, countries, sectors or company sizes; bond ETFs can hold government or company debt.

Commodity products can track assets such as gold. Sector and thematic ETFs focus on areas such as healthcare, technology, cybersecurity or clean energy.

Strategies change the experience

Factor ETFs select companies using characteristics such as value, momentum, quality, size or minimum How much a price swings up and down along the way.. Leveraged and inverse products attempt to magnify or reverse daily moves and can behave very differently from a normal long-term Exchange-traded fund — a basket of investments you can buy and sell like a single share..
